Auto Racing, Shav Glick Award to Dan Gurney, On Track Magazine (Dec 99 issue)

Motor racing legend and Newport Beach resident Dan Gurney has been chosen the winner of the first annual Shav Glick Award, given for distinguished achievement in motor racing by a Californian.

Gurney received the award at the NASCAR Winston Cup Napa Auto Parts 500, April 30, 2000, at the California Speedway. Gurney was selected ahead of four time Indy winner Rick Mears, National Hot Rod Association founder Wally Parks, world champion motorcycle rider Kenny Roberts and the late owner/race promoter J.C. Agajanian.
